It was a dark and stormy night…

hot-chocolate-time

It was a dark and stormy night and all through the house the windows were lit up with flashes of lightning, one after the other after the other.  It was a mesmerising sight to behold.  The thunder claps were loud and bone rattling and the atmosphere was intense.  The rain battered down hard on the ground, trying to pummel anything in its grasp into the earth.

I love a good storm, especially when I’m all cosy indoors watching from safety as my garden floods and passing headlights light up my rooms competing with the lightning flashes.

Unfortunately for me, last night I had to go out in the wild weather as it was Tarot night and not a lot will stop me from getting to this monthly event.

I donned my boots and waterproofs, picked up my large umbrella and stepped out into the storm and ran for my car, all 10 feet away!  At the pub however, the walk was slightly longer, and after diving indoors and claiming our table for the night, I went back outside to help a friend in, sheltering her as much as I could from the rain.

Five of us braved the weather last night, we sat in a cosy corner in the pub, the barmaid even loaned us a table cloth to help set the scene on this dark and wild night.  And the taroting began.  It was wonderful!

Fortunately, by the time we had to leave, the storm had passed and the rain and winds had gone and we could make our way home without having to dodge raindrops.

Home was dark when I arrived, however, there were 2 heartbeats within and it felt so calm.  I grabbed a glass of water as I headed for bed and could I get to sleep? No! Not a chance, for I had forgotten to ground myself after a busy night of taroting.

This is something I do not normally forget to do.  My grounding process involves a large hot chocolate in a mug I can wrap my hands around (you may have a different method, but this works for me).

I did sleep, eventually, however, this morning I made good with myself by making a large hot chocolate to sip whilst I work with my cards and do my studies.

I rarely read the tarot without a hot chocolate beside me, I find it soothing and calming and helps me focus.  So here’s to the humble cocoa bean and the yummy-lisciousness it brings to the world, especially mine.

Lesson learned: tarot and hot chocolate are my perfect match and long may they be joined together in awesomeness!
